Summary of Changes:

Nothing material ... but the announce I pushed into the 
-general list was too big, and I have to manually release it 
from the mailing list software.

To make up for the delay, we pushed this candidate through 
release testing this morning, and we updated the release.

Also, there was some 'tar' or 'gzip' problem in the external 
copy which we push out of the way (and I will 'mark' as 
'spoiled' in the ./attic/).  The flaw was not visible until 
the ftp copy appeared in the outside download directory.  We 
are running down what happened.  ;)
